Continuing Students Housing Options

Cal Poly Humboldt is committed to providing safe and supportive living and learning environments. The University currently offers both on and off-campus housing options, and we are working to secure more student residences.
While first-time students have priority for on-campus housing, 600 spaces are reserved for continuing and transfer students. Additionally, we have partnered with local hotels as part of our bridge housing program to provide an additional 350 spaces for students just three miles from campus. For more information, please review the frequently asked questions.
Bridge Housing Summary
- "Bridge Housing” is a term we use to describe temporary housing managed by Cal Poly Humboldt until our new residence halls are built.
- Bridge housing includes local hotels (Comfort Inn, Motel 6 and Super 8) as well as other options we are exploring.
- Bridge housing was an important part of our polytechnic transformation plan, and campus teams have been working for many months to identify and secure options that meet the housing needs of our students.
- Bridge housing is an option for continuing Cal Poly Humboldt students only.
- For Fall 2023 we are planning on adding about 1,000 beds of “Bridge Housing” to our campus managed housing portfolio.
- The Craftsman Mall, a 950+ bed off-campus residence hall is scheduled to open during the Fall 2025 semester. Other housing options are planned to support additional enrollment growth.
- Students living in bridge housing are still eligible for all university related scholarships and aid.
- Students living in bridge housing will have access to extra amenities such as enhanced dining options, enhanced programming opportunities, enhanced presence by our University Police Department and the Arcata Police Department, and university transportation support seven days a week with extended evening hours.
- Bridge housing is utilized after creating as much capacity within our on-campus housing stock as possible - including increased student numbers, such as found in “triple” rooms. Cal Poly Humboldt currently has some rooms that are considered “triple” rooms, but due to state fire requirements we are limited in the number of these options available on campus.
