The Hill

Residences for first-year students

Redwood and Sunset Halls, known as "The Hill", are traditional residence halls. Each building is three stories and houses approximately 225 students in primarily double rooms with a limited number of triple and single rooms.

About The Hill

Triple rooms are the same size as double rooms. The buildings are L-shaped and house approximately 40 students per floor on each wing. On the first floor, one wing of the "L" is women, the other wing is men. On the second and third floors, men and women are assigned rooms next to each other. Bathrooms are not coed.
Each room is furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, and closet or wardrobe for each resident. All beds are twin extra long. Every student in the Hill has the ability to access the internet through wired or wireless connections. The rooms are also wired for optional telephone service and cable TV service. Each floor has a study area and a TV lounge. On the first floor of each building, there is a kitchen, laundry and lounge area with vending machines and ping pong tables. Custodial services clean the hallways, bathrooms and lounges.

One microwave and one mini refrigerator is provided per room for the residents of Redwood and Sunset Halls. Only one microwave and one mini refrigerator is allowed in each room. Students should not purchase and bring these items from home. Students with medical needs requiring additional refrigeration space should contact the Campus Disability Resource Center at cdrc@humboldt.edu.

The two buildings face each other, forming a center quad area. A sand volleyball court and a barbecue are located near the buildings.
