Apply to be a Student Leader within Residence Life

Thank you for your interest in a Residence Life position for the upcoming 2020 - 2021 year.  Few positions offer opportunities for personal growth and challenge through a hands-on experience like the Residence Life positions.  The rewards of positively impacting the lives of your peers are endless!  The experiences, skills, and friendships you will develop in just one year will greatly impact you and those around you for your entire life.

Residence Life intends to focus on the education and holistic growth of the student by creating a safe, socially just, and environmentally responsible community. ResLife student staff plays a critical role in the implementation of our mission. Our student leader positions prepare you for being effective educators, social justice advocates, and community leaders.

As with any application and interview process, there are several requirements and deadlines that must be met. Please note the information listed below.  This information is intended to serve as your guide throughout the process.  Lastly, a complete application includes all information in application filled out correctly, thoughtful short essay answers, and 2 completed Recommendation Forms. Please be advised that incomplete applications will not be considered.  Have fun and good luck!

We are currently hiring the following positions for the next Academic Year. These positions begin in Fall 2020.

  • Activities Student Assistant (ASA)
    • Outdoor Adventure & Recreation
    • Rainbow / Gender-Inclusive
    • Students for Violence Prevention
  • Lead Student Assistant (SA)
  • Resident Sustainability Advisor (RSA)

Position Requirements

The minimum requirements for all positions are:

  • Full-Time Enrollment; 12 units/semester if undergraduate student, 7 units/semester if graduate student
  • 2.5 semester and cumulative G.P.A. if undergraduate student, 3.0 semester and cumulative G.P.A. if graduate student
  • Applicants must have lived on campus at least one year or have comparable experience
  • Applicants must be in good academic, financial, and judicial standing with the University and Housing & Residence Life

  • Wednesday, February 19th - Info Session @ 8pm in College Creek - Great Hall (Above the Marketplace)
  • Monday, February 24th - Info Session @ 8pm in Creekside Lounge at Creekview
  • Tuesday, March 3rd - Info Session @ 12pm in Library Fishbowl (LIB 209)
  • Monday, March 5th - Info Session @ 8pm in Sunset Classroom (The Hill - Sunset)
  • Wednesday, March 11th - Info Session @ 7pm in the Jolly Giant Commons (JGC) Recreation Room on the 1st Floor

Application Process

  •  Monday, February 24th - Application Opens
  • Friday, March 13th - Application Closes at 11:59pm COMPLETED APPLICATION AND RECOMMENDATION FORMS MUST BE SUBMITTED
  • Wednesday, March 18th - Interview Offer Emailed
  • Wednesday, March 18th - Friday, March 20th - RA Candidates Sign up for Interviews
  • Monday, March 23rd - Friday, March 27th - RA Individual & Group Interviews Conducted
  • Monday, April 6th - Friday, April 10th - RA Offer Letters made available at Main Housing Office
  • Friday, April 10th - RA Acceptances Due to the Main Housing Office by 5pm
  • Friday, April 24th - Mandatory Orientation for 2020 - 2021 Staff at 5pm (Location TBD)
