Apply to be a Student Leader within Residence Life

Thank you for your interest in a Residence Life position for the upcoming 2019 - 2020 year.  There are few positions that offer opportunities for personal growth and challenge through a hands-on experience like the Residence Life positions.  The rewards of positively impacting the lives of your peers are endless!  The experiences, skills, and friendships you will develop in just one year will greatly impact you and those around you for your entire life.

The intention of Residence Life is to focus on the education and holistic growth of the student by creating a safe, socially just, and environmentally responsible community. ResLife student staff play a critical role in the implementation of our mission. Our student leader positions prepare you for being effectual educators, social justice advocates, and community leaders.

As with any application and interview process, there are a number of requirements and deadlines that must be met. Please note the information listed below.  This information is intended to serve as your guide throughout the process.  Lastly, please realize that incomplete applications will not be considered.  Have fun and good luck!

We are currently Hiring the following Positions for the next Academic Year. These positions begin in Fall 2019.

  • Resident Advisor (RA)
  • Activities Student Assistant (ASA) - CLOSED
  • Lead Student Assistant (SA) - CLOSED
  • Resident Sustainability Advisor (RSA) - CLOSED

Position Requirements

The minimum requirements for all positions are:

  • Full-Time Enrollment; 12 units/semester if undergraduate student, 7 units/semester if graduate student
  • 2.5 semester and cumulative G.P.A. if undergraduate student, 3.0 semester and cumulative G.P.A. if graduate student
  • New applicants must not have earned more than 136 units
  • Returning applicants must not have earned more than 150 units
  • Applicants must have lived on campus at least one year or have comparable experience
  • Applicants must be in good academic, financial, and judicial standing with the University and Housing & Residence Life

  • Tuesday, February 5th - Info Session @ 12pm in Nelson Hall East 106 (NHE 106)
  • Thursday, February 7th - Info Session @ 8pm in Creekview Lounge
  • Monday, February 11th - Info Session @ 8pm in Sunset Classroom (The Hill - Sunset)
  • Wednesday, February 13th - Info Session @ 7pm in the Jolly Giant Commons (JGC) Recreation Room on the 1st Floor

Application Process

  • Tuesday, January 22nd - Application Opens
  • Thursday, February 14th - Application Closes at 11:45pm ALL MATERIALS MUST BE SUBMITTED
  • Monday, February 18th - Interview Offer Emailed
  • Monday, February 18th - Friday, February 22nd - RA Candidates Sign up for Interviews
  • Monday, February 25th - Friday, March 1st - RA Individual & Group Interviews Conducted
  • Monday, March 11th - Friday, March 15th - RA Offer Letters made available at Main Housing Office
  • Friday, March 13th - RA Acceptances Due to the Main Housing Office by 5pm
  • Friday, April 12th - Mandatory Orientation for 2019 - 2020 Staff at 5pm (Location TBD)
